We're just days away from the start of the 2026 NFL regular season, and everyone is on the edge of their seat with anticipation. The ultimate goal for every team when the season starts is to win the Super Bowl. That's what every team sets out to do; that's what every player wants to see happen. But we all know that only one of the 32 teams can accomplish that feat, and less than half of the league will even make the playoffs.
A recent CBS Sports article grouped and ranked all 32 NFL teams and their chances of making it to the Big Game this season. Teams were grouped as follows:
- S: Super Bowl or bust
- A: Got close in '25, could break through in '26
- B: Legitimate championship aspirations
- C: Make the playoffs, then we'll talk
- D: Probably finishing below .500
- F: No. 1 pick contenders
Unsurprisingly, the Washington Commanders landed in the C tier. The Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings,
New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Atlanta Falcons joined them. The first paragraph under the teams reads:
The C Tier might be the most fluid. If everything clicks for these teams, they can clinch a spot in the playoffs. If it falls apart, they could bottom out and face tough questions about whether to keep their coaching staff and whether to blow up their rosters.
The Commanders aren't specifically discussed in the article, but that paragraph definitely depicts what they will face in 2026. If they don't have a winning season, at minimum, we're having a whole different conversation at the end of the season than if they make the playoffs. That's the position that Dan Quinn is in right now. That's the position of this roster right now.
However, it certainly seems like this team is ready to face whatever the league throws at them in 2026. The players all have a chip on their shoulder, and they're all ready to prove that they've got what it takes to be successful this season.
