Saturday, the Washington Commanders made two roster moves.
Linebacker Ale Kaho was elevated from the practice squad as expected because, in last week’s game against the Seahawks, LB Leo Chenal suffered a dangerous, season-ending neck injury that required surgery. With Chenal out for the rest of the 2026 season, the Commanders will likely plan to keep Kaho on the 53-man roster. NFL rules allow players to be elevated a maximum of three times before they must be on the permanent roster.
In their second roster move, the Commanders elevated running back Craig Reynolds. Reynolds has exhibited quickness in his career as well as the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. The move comes because, on Friday, Head coach Dan Quinn said RB Rachaad
White would not be available Sunday against the Colts. White injured his shoulder in last week’s game vs. Seattle.

The Commanders also signed free agent RB Austin Ekeler to the active roster this week. So Ekeler was learning as much of the new offense as he could this week. What he doesn’t yet know or understand, Reynolds will be able to help with, since he has been with the team longer, having been signed during training camp. Ekeler, of course, spent the past two seasons with the Commanders, but that was with former offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. This will also be Ekeler’s first game back since Sept. 2025 after a torn Achilles.
