It was mostly ugly, but the Washington Commanders got the win.
The Commanders were awful, then the Eagles showed how bad they are, and the Commanders still won 27-10 at Northwest Stadium on NBC Sunday Night Football.
Last year, the Eagles were up big late, scored, and went for two to rub it in. Apparently Dan Quinn didn’t forget this: when Rachaad White scored with 1:52 remaining, Quinn called for the two-point attempt, and Austin Ekeler scored on a run up the middle to add salt to the Eagles’ wounds.
The Commanders started horribly, as quarterback Jayden Daniels missed some open receivers; his timing looked off; there were two dropped passes; and yes, more pre-snap penalties. All of this left the Commanders down 10-0 to a team that came to DC
after losing their last five straight games.
After turning things around, Daniels started the night 4 for 11, but finished 16-29 for 217 yards and a passing touchdown with no interceptions. Daniels completed a 53-yarder to Treylon Burks, a 30-yarder to Antonio Williams, a 21-yarder to Chig Okonkwo, and a 20-yard pass to Stefon Diggs.
Clinical drive for Jayden Daniels and the Commanders to even the game.

Daniels went 5/6 for 49 yards and a TD. He also scrambled for 14 yards. Nice throws to Burks (20 yard comeback route) and Williams (10 yard out route). pic.twitter.com/0PjudT3F3K
Washington ran the ball for 135 yards on 26 carries, led by Rachaad White’s 55 yards on 11 carries and Austin Ekeler’s 36 yards on eight carries.
Defensively, the Commanders sacked Eagles QB Tanner McKee five times, with Shy Tuttle, Dorance Armstrong, K'Lavon Chaisson, Charles Omenihu, and Odafe Oweh each contributing one sack. CB Rasul Douglas collected an interception, and Omenihu recovered a McKee fumble forced by Armstrong.
Luke McCaffrey also impressed with a 44-yard kickoff return and 27-yard punt return, both in the first half. Kicker Drew Stevens made four of five field goal attempts, including a 56-yarder. His miss was from 55.
Washington is now in third place at 2-4-1, while the Eagles have fallen to 2-6, last in the NFC East. The Commanders host the LA Rams next Sunday.
