The Washington Commanders were among the most injured teams in the NFL last season. Things started off worryingly this summer when five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil tore his triceps on Aug. 8. Defensive tackle Johnny Newton later lost time with a torn pectoral.
In Washington’s season opener at Philadelphia, linebackers Frankie Luvu (groin) and Jordan Magee (hamstring), and tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring), were injured. Magee was placed on injured reserve, while Luvu and Okonkwo were ruled out for Sunday’s Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
After a great start against the Cowboys, left guard Chris Paul stepped on starting quarterback Jayden Daniels' foot on the last play of the first half. As he tried to break his fall, Daniels landed
awkwardly on his left elbow. It’s the same elbow he injured last season. Daniels was ruled out.
Later in the game, left tackle Brandon Coleman also departed with a finger injury. Then, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw injured his shoulder and was helped off the field.
On the Commanders’ final drive, Washington’s best offensive lineman, right guard Sam Cosmi, was hit hard by running back Kaytron Allen and appeared to be in significant pain as he was helped off the field.

Cosmi had an outstanding Week 1 performance, defending Eagles star Jalen Carter. Rookie Matt Gulbin replaced him at right guard.
We'll have more updates on Washington's injuries as they become available.
