This was Douglas’ first interception with the Commanders, as his role has increased with Mike Sainristil playing fewer snaps. Douglas played 49 percent of the defensive snaps in the Commanders’ first three games. Washington now has at least two turnovers in their last two games after not generating a takeaway in their first two games.
The Commanders couldn’t capitalize on Douglas’ interception after failing to convert on fourth down near midfield. Washington’s defense looked like they were going to get off the field and force a field goal attempt, but a 15-yard penalty against Commanders cornerback Amik Robertson extended the drive for Indianapolis. The Colts capitalized with a touchdown to take the lead shortly before halftime.
Indianapolis kicked a field goal just before halftime and went into intermission with a 10-6 lead.
