The Washington Commanders begin training camp on Wednesday. But before the players hit the field, general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn met with the media to preview camp and provide some updates.
Peters began the media session with a pair of injury updates from training camp. Last week, the Commanders placed cornerback Trey Amos, edge rusher Dorance Armstrong and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to begin training camp.
Those moves weren't unexpected, considering all three players finished last season on injured reserve after suffering season-ending injuries.
You can add two more players to Washington's injury list to kick off camp: punter Tress Way and linebacker Kain Medrano.
Fortunately, neither will be added to the PUP list.
"Tress Way and Kain Medrano are both dealing with injuries, so they won't be dressed up tomorrow," Peters said.
"Tress suffered a pectoral injury. He'll be rehabbing off to the side. It’s not expected to keep him out for an extended period of time, though, so not too worried about that."
Washington made a move at punter, signing veteran Matt Haack.

Haack, 32, has punted in the NFL since 2017 and appeared in seven games for the Arizona Cardinals last season, averaging 51 yards per punt.
Peters also offered a positive update on Medrano.
"Just a minor hamstring [injury] training in the offseason, and he should be back shortly," he said.
Medrano is competing for a spot on Washington's 53-man roster. After Nick Bellore's surprise retirement, Medrano has an opportunity to impress coaches this summer. The second-year player played exclusively on special teams as a rookie last season.
Way has been Washington's punter since 2014, missing only one game in 12 seasons with the team.
