He’s back.
On Monday, current San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted a video on his Instagram celebrating “Victory Monday.” Yes, San Francisco won on Sunday, but Aiyuk, who is currently on the 49ers’ reserve/left squad list, wasn’t celebrating a 49ers win.
Instead, Aiyuk was celebrating the Washington Commanders’ first win of the season, a thrilling 33-31 upset win over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Those pajamas certainly looked like Commanders’ PJs.
Aiyuk has publicly feuded with the 49ers over the last two years, and general manager John Lynch has said he'd never play for them
again. Aiyuk said he has no intention of doing any business with San Francisco, even if that's what it would take to get his release.
All year long, Aiyuk has posted multiple videos either wearing Commanders' gear or saying he wants to—and plans to—play for Washington. At one point, he seemed like a viable option if he had reported to San Francisco and gotten his release. He even said he bought a house in Virginia near Washington’s team facility.
But the Commanders moved on a long time ago and instead signed four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs. In three games, Diggs has led the Commanders with three touchdowns.
Aiyuk is close friends with Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels, but some wonder if that relationship soured over the summer. Daniels has chosen not to discuss it.
For now, Aiyuk will remain a Commanders fan with no official ties to the team.
