The Washington Commanders hosted the New York Giants on Sunday at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
It was a rainy, gloomy day, and the Commanders actually started out strong. They played well for three quarters and had what seemed to be a solid 27-13 lead in the fourth quarter. Then, the Giants scored 14 unanswered points to send the game to overtime.
The overtime period was one of the wildest portions of football we've seen in a long time. The Giants had the ball first, but failed to score after missing a field goal. Then the Commanders were forced to punt. The Giants marched back down the field and were on the verge of scoring when Cam Skattebo fumbled the ball.
There was less than two minutes on the clock, and the Commanders managed
to get into field goal range. But rather than simply kick a field goal, they decided to run a play with eight seconds left on the clock. Jayden Daniels failed to get out of bounds, and the clock ran out, ending the game in a tie. If you're a fan of either of these teams, it was a frustrating game to watch and had an unsatisfying ending.
