The Washington Commanders left for London on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, they practiced in preparation for Sunday’s Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Guess who was on the practice field? Quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Daniels, who dislocated his left (non-throwing) elbow in the Week 2 loss at Dallas, visited multiple specialists and not only avoided surgery but also a stint on injured reserve. It’s the same elbow that Daniels dislocated last November.
With Daniels traveling with the Commanders to London this week, there’s a chance he could play on Sunday. How high are those chances? It seems unlikely. He was listed as limited on Wednesday’s injury report, which means nothing this early in the week. Head coach Dan Quinn noted that Wednesday’s practice
was more of a “jog format.”
However, it was the first time we saw Daniels wear the brace he’ll need when he returns to action.

While it’s a significant brace, it doesn’t appear quite as bulky as the one Kurt Warner wore back in 2007.
Quinn was asked on Wednesday if Daniels had a chance to play on Sunday. “Yep,” Quinn said.
Short and sweet.
Quinn also discussed Daniels playing with the brace and what the Commanders need to see before he can return.
“Certainly, having the brace is gonna be a big part of him,” Quinn said of Daniels. “He’ll wear that the entire season, but I would say there’s a known entity of when you’re ready. Without going through all the steps, we just don’t know yet. We’re not going to put him out there before he’s ready. So that’s why it’s important for us to trust the process as we’re going.”
Quinn’s one-word answer on whether Daniels will play Sunday seems like gamesmanship to make the Colts believe there’s a chance he could play. We’ll see, but it still appears unlikely—for now.
