While fellow edge rusher Odafe Oweh wasn’t practicing, head coach Dan Quinn said the Commanders were hopeful he’d return to practice next week.
As for Chaisson, Quinn said he was progressing toward a Week 1 return. The Commanders travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles on Sept. 13 in the season opener.
Chaisson, 27, signed a one-year deal this offseason after coming off an impressive 2025
season with the New England Patriots. He, along with Oweh, was having a dominant training camp before each dealt with separate injuries.
Oweh and Chaisson’s absences allowed rookie Joshua Josephs to get more snaps on the edge.
In more good news for the Commanders, starting running back Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt was also on the practice field for the second consecutive day.
While it’s been a difficult summer for Washington on the injury front, several key players are getting healthy at the right time and should be ready for Week 1.
