Texas A&M's offensive line was a major question heading into the 2026 season, and through four games, the revamped unit, featuring just one returning starter in center Mark Nabou, has steadily improved week to week, showing promise in run blocking during the Aggies' back-to-back losses to Kentucky at home and LSU on the road.
After landing four veteran offensive linemen from the transfer portal, third-year coach Mike Elko and OL coach Adam Cushing felt LSU transfer Tyree Adams was the best option to replace veteran starter Trey Zuhn. Through the first two games, Adams performed well, but allowed five pressures against Kentucky and two against LSU.
Still, Adams, barring any future injury issues, is expected to remain the starting left tackle, but
the name to watch this season and beyond is former five-star commit and sophomore tackle Lamont Rogers, who played 58 snaps against LSU. Allowing three pressures against the Tigers, Rogers was excellent as a run blocker and earned an impressive PFF run-blocking grade (73.5) after the 35-6 road loss.
This week, before the Aggies hosted Arkansas on Saturday night, Mike Elko said that Lamont Rogers had performed so well in practice that he considered starting the sophomore at right guard, before ultimately moving Wilking Formby inside.
"Lamont Rogers (was) playing at a level that warranted him getting on the field. … We just felt like Lamont being the younger guy, the inexperienced guy, the guy making his first start, we wanted to keep Lamont at the position he had been working the longest. So credit to Wilkin, who was willing and wanting to kind of move inside, and do what the team needed and what the team required.
"So we felt like that was the best configuration to give us a chance, and I do think we ran the ball better against a team that wasn't giving up very many rushing yards."
Lamont Rogers is one of the most versatile offensive linemen on the roster and will be in line to earn the starting left tackle job next season, while continuing to serve as a reliable depth option at guard or tackle. Given starting quarterback Marcel Reed's continued struggles, running the ball effectively, with Lamont Rogers leading the way in certain packages, is the path to offensive success.
During Texas A&M's 34-7 win over Arkansas, Lamont Rogers started at right tackle, playing very well, especially as a run blocker.
