Texas A&M linebacker Daymion Sanford's recovery from his fibula injury during the Maroon & White Game has continued to impress, and head coach Mike Elko is anticipating him playing on Saturday against the Missouri State Bears.
"Right now, yes. Probably still a little bit of a game-time decision. To ask me right now, I anticipate him being out there," Elko told TexAgs about Sanford on Monday.
Sanford underwent surgery on his leg after the injury and is entering his senior season as a captain and projected starter at will linebacker after a breakout 2025 season that saw him start the final 10 games of the season. He played in 13 games total, recording 57 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and two forced
fumbles.
The veteran is a key piece for Elko's defense due to his leadership and his ability to rush the passer. He has played in 39 games during his three years with the Aggies, making 94 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and breaking up five passes.
Texas A&M's season-opener against Missouri State is set to start at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday in Kyle Field. The game will air on ESPN.
