For the Denver Broncos, that’s the situation with former Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York, who was waived Sunday, per Chris Tomasson. York received a notable $25,000 signing bonus, the highest among Denver’s undrafted free agents, signaling how much the organization valued bringing him into camp. He delivered a solid preseason, recording four
tackles and flashing the instincts and competitiveness that defined his college career.
Making an NFL roster as an undrafted free agent is always a long shot. Roughly 15% of UDFAs make an initial 53‑man roster, and about 25% land on a practice squad. That means the majority never appear in a regular‑season game. For York, the Broncos have made it clear they want him back on the practice squad if he goes unclaimed.
York has always been an underdog, and this is simply the next test in a career built on proving doubters wrong. If he clears waivers, he’ll have another opportunity to continue that journey in Denver.
