Texas A&M volleyball remains No. 17 in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll released Monday, maintaining its national ranking following a weekend split against two ranked SEC opponents.
The Aggies (14-9, 7-4 SEC) entered last week riding a three-match winning streak, highlighted by a sweep of then-No. 4 Kentucky on Oct. 25. Texas A&M extended that streak Friday with a four-set victory over then-No. 6 Tennessee before falling to No. 14 Texas in three sets Sunday.
Friday's victory marked the first time in program history that Texas A&M defeated consecutive top-10 opponents during the regular season. The Aggies recorded a season-high 16 blocks against Tennessee, led by Kaia Castle's 12, while Kyndal Stowers finished with 19 kills and 15 digs.
However, Texas
A&M struggled to carry that momentum into Austin. The Longhorns swept the Aggies at Gregory Gymnasium, ending their four-match winning streak and handing them their fourth conference loss. Despite Sunday's setback, the Aggies maintained their position in the national rankings after climbing two spots from No. 19 the previous week. Texas A&M has now appeared in the AVCA Top 25 for 28 consecutive weeks.
The Aggies have four regular-season matches remaining, including another ranked conference opponent this weekend. With postseason positioning still at stake, Texas A&M will need to build on its recent victories while finding more consistency away from Reed Arena.
Texas A&M returns to action Friday, Nov. 6, when it travels to Nashville to face No. 21, Vanderbilt. The Aggies will then visit Missouri on Sunday as they continue their final stretch of SEC play.
