Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is led by six five-star commitments, including star safety Kamarui Dorsey, who is poised to walk onto campus and compete for a starting role given his elite skill set and perfect fit in coach Mike Elko's defense. With the new 5-for-5 rule, we've already seen Elko play most of the 2026 signing class through two games.
Mike Elko's background as one of the top secondary coaches, especially in developing safety prospects, also led to a commitment from four-star JayQuan Snell, who is equally talented and pairs well with Dorsey's coverage skill set. Texas A&M's future secondary is all but set with five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, as the Aggies' National Title hopes move closer to reality.
In just a handful
of games during his 2026 senior season at Hampton (GA), Kamarui Dorsey went nuclear, recording four interceptions, including a pick-six against North Clayton (GA), and should slide into the rotation with ease to make an immediate impact in 2027.
Looking ahead, starting safeties Dalton Brooks and Marcus Ratcliffe are expected to depart for the NFL after the 2026 season, while transfer Tawfiq Byard could return; coupled with Myles Davis, Tom Tom Johnson Jr., and freshman Chance Collins will fill out the rest of the safety rotation, which is expected to be one of the most talented in the SEC.
