Texas A&M is 2-0 in the young season after blowing out Northern Kentucky 104-67, led by transfer point guard Jordan Pope's 18 points, with six players finishing in double-digit scoring. Even when star transfer guard PJ Haggerty had a quiet night with just ten points, this new roster can score 100 or more points on any given night, especially with senior guard Rylan Griffen back in the lineup.
Yes, Rylan Griffen, who was recently deemed ineligible after his hearing, returned to the lineup and scored eight points, including two three-pointers, in 14 minutes of play, providing exceptional depth to an already established roster that now looks complete.
Even TexAgs insider Luke Evangelist did not provide a clear answer on how the veteran guard was
able to return just an hour before the game, but after the win, thanks to GigEm247's Tony Catalina for asking the question, coach Bucky McMillan revealed that, despite being deemed ineligible during his last hearing, Griffen received a TRO (temporary restraining order) which makes him eligible until further notice.
"He recently got a TRO, and so he's allowed to play with us. And I can't talk more about it, but you know we expect him, and we're glad to have him back. Expect him to continue to rock with us."
Given the transfer additions who have continued to make a consistent impact, Rylan Griffen will continue to come off the bench to relieve PJ Haggerty or Jordan Pope, providing a consistent deep threat and excellent on-ball defender. This is by far the most talented, and now, deepest Texas A&M roster in over a decade with Griffen back in the fold.
