Texas A&M's 35-6 loss to LSU in Baton Rouge highlighted one area of the roster that hasn't been a massive disappointment: special teams. Senior cornerback Bravion Rogers has been nothing short of impressive as the primary gunner, while transfer kicker David Olano, who finished 2-for-2 on the night, hit a career-high 54-yard field goal.
Senior punter Tyler White has also been consistent, and with the Aggie offense struggling in three of the last four games, he's had plenty of time to work on his craft, which included seven punts for 363 yards, averaging a cool 51.9 yards per punt. Texas A&M's defense was given great field position on every punt, as White kicked three punts inside the 20 and forced two fair catches against the Tigers.
Unsurprisingly,
White was named Ray Guy Punter of the Week, which is great for the future NFL punter, but a very bad sign for the Aggie offense, which produced just 197 yards, including starting quarterback Marcel Reed's career-low 106 passing yards, completing 10/26 for 4.1 yards per completion.
Still, Tyler White deserves praise for his consistency, posting a career-high six punts of over 50 yards, including a 58-yarder against LSU, and averaging 50 yards per punt this season. Texas A&M's history of developing NFL punters will continue with Tyler White, who is expected to have a long career in the league if this level of play continues.
Texas A&M will host Arkansas on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN2.
