The standout quarterback performances were limited in Week 7, as many signal-callers struggled against the SEC's top defensive units.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss continues his reign atop the power rankings, throwing for 241 yards and tossing two touchdowns in a shutout win over the Missouri Tigers, who entered the showdown in Oxford, Mississippi, with one of the conference's top defenses.
Meanwhile, Tennessee's true freshman gunslinger George MacIntyre and Auburn dual-threat quarterback Byrum Brown make their debuts in our rankings, after outstanding performances in upsets over their respective rivals.
Here are the top-10 SEC quarterbacks entering Week 8:
1. Trinidad Chambliss - Ole Miss
2026 statistics: 67.6% COMP | 1,676 PASS YDS | 14 PASS TD | 4 INT | 36 CAR | 127
RUSH YDS | 6 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: No other player in college football would a team rather have more at quarterback than Chambliss. He ranks top-three in the league in almost every passing category imaginable and continues to work magic for the Rebs. From Ferris State to being the solidified best SEC quarterback, Chambliss' reign atop these power rankings will be almost impossible to topple.
2. Austin Simmons - Missouri
2026 statistics: 63.2% COMP | 1,773 PASS YDS | 14 PASS TD | 2 INT | 3 CAR | -8 RUSH YDS
Tale of the tape: Despite the blowout loss to his former team, Simmons looked solid against the Rebels, recording his second 300-plus-yard passing game of 2026. Outside of one interception, Simmons was able to move the ball through the air, but failed to lead the Tigers to pay dirt. He ranks No. 2 in the SEC in total passing yards and No. 4 in passing yards per game.
3. Gunner Stockton - Georgia
2026 statistics: 74.1% COMP | 1,570 PASS YDS | 16 PASS TD | 4 INT | 35 CAR | 160 RUSH YDS | 1 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: The veteran signal-caller had his first multi-interception performance of the 2026 season in Georgia's upset loss to unranked Auburn in Athens. Despite the down performance, Stockton still threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns. Stockton has been one of the most accurate SEC quarterbacks through the first seven weeks, ranked No. 1 in overall completion percentage and quarterback rating.
4. Keelon Russell - Alabama
2026 statistics: 67.5% COMP | 1,746 PASS YDS | 12 PASS TD | 4 INT | 57 CAR | 231 RUSH YDS | 5 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: Russell had his worst collegiate performance against Tennessee in Week 7. The sophomore threw for just 147 yards and had two interceptions against the Vols. Much of Alabama's offensive struggles came from the trenches, where the offensive line failed to give Russell time in the pocket, leading to errant throws and decisions from the Tide's young quarterback. Russell will continue to improve with experience, but he remains one of the conference's top passers through the first seven weeks.
5. Kamario Taylor - Mississippi State
2026 statistics: 66.2% COMP | 1,450 PASS YDS | 17 PASS TD | 4 INT | 43 CAR | 159 RUSH YDS | 1 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: Unfortunately for Mississippi State and its young gunslinger, his health remains in question again as the Bulldogs face Oklahoma in Week 8. Taylor was out for the team's road trip to LSU, with rumors swirling about the sophomore dealing with turf toe. Depending on the severity of the injury, Taylor could be out for an extended period of time, but MSU needs him back sooner rather than later. The lack of success his team had offensively against the Tigers on Saturday showed how massive of an impact Taylor makes when on the field in the Maroon and White.
6. Sam Leavitt - LSU
2026 statistics: 70.1% COMP | 1,785 PASS YDS | 14 PASS TD | 8 INT | 64 CAR | 270 RUSH YDS | 7 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: Despite battling a hamstring injury over recent weeks, Leavitt has continuously improved each week. Leavitt boasted a season-high 81.6 completion percentage with 289 passing yards and four touchdowns against in a 31-0 shutout win over Mississippi State in Week 7. The Arizona State transfer stumbled out of the gate with the Tigers, but he has quickly ascended the list of top SEC quarterbacks, ranking No. 3 in passing yards per game and No. 1 in total passing yards.
7. LaNorris Sellers - South Carolina
2026 statistics: 61.5% COMP | 1,338 PASS YDS | 12 PASS TD | 4 INT | 67 CAR | 411 RUSH YDS | 2 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: South Carolina was on a much-needed bye in Week 7 after smashing Florida, 38-19, in the Swamp, but the Gamecocks have an opportunity to upset another ranked opponent when No. 11 Tennessee rolls into town. Sellers has played a massive role in the program rebounding from an ugly start to SEC play, tied at No. 7 in the conference with 12 passing touchdowns and ranked No. 2 among quarterbacks with 411 rushing yards this season. He must be sharp with his decision-making and accuracy, while using his speed to create explosives against a scary Tennessee defense.
8. Kenny Minchey - Kentucky
2026 statistics: 68.4% COMP | 1,552 PASS YDS | 13 PASS TD | 1 INT | 39 CAR | 15 RUSH YDS | 1 TD
Tale of the tape: Minchey's performance in the win over Oklahoma didn't jump off the charts, but he was efficient enough to lead the Wildcats to a 6-1 record with a 75% completion percentage, 158 passing yards and two touchdowns. The argument could be made for Minchey to be higher on this list, but the talent ahead of him flashed more in Week 7.
9. George MacIntyre - Tennessee
2026 statistics: 66.3% COMP | 592 PASS YDS | 2 PASS TD | 3 INT | 6 CAR | -10 RUSH YDS
Tale of the tape: The true freshman's performance in the victory over the Crimson Tide was overshadowed by Tennessee's lights-out outing defensively, but MacIntyre's consistency played a massive role in the upset. MacIntyre compiled 197 passing yards, one touchdown and an interception on a dropped pass. That's back-to-back SEC wins for MacIntyre since being named Tennessee's starter, but we will know more about his potential when the Vols travel to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 8.
10. Byrum Brown - Auburn
2026 statistics: 64.3% COMP | 1,205 PASS YDS | 8 PASS TD | 7 INT | 107 CAR | 459 RUSH YDS | 5 RUSH TD
Tale of the tape: Making his first appearance on this list since the beginning of the 2026 season, Brown earned the No. 10 spot for his performance on the road against No. 1 Georgia. The USF transfer threw for 150 yards and a touchdown, while adding 115 rushing yards and one score on the ground. He took care of the football and put his team in position to put points on the board against an elite defense in a hostile environment.
