Texas A&M's 2026 season has been a massive failure, and Saturday's disappointment came after the Aggies fell 17-9 to No. 21 South Carolina in Columbia, failing to score a touchdown for the third time in SEC play despite gaining over 450 total yards on offense.
Can it honestly get any worse with three games remaining? Yes, a 4-8 finish would be the program's worst since joining the SEC before the 2012 season and would match the 2008 season under former coach Mike Sherman's inaugural season.
Set to host Tennessee next Saturday, followed by Oklahoma in Norman, and hosting Texas to end the regular season, the current coaching regime, especially first-year OC Holmon Wiggins, isn't moving the needle, and if third-year coach Mike Elko can do anything
to help his team compete over the next three weeks, changes must be made.
Right now, I doubt Elko will make drastic changes to the coaching staff, likely because dismissing Holmon Wiggins, one of the program's top recruiters, could affect the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class before Early Signing Day. Still, after not scoring a touchdown yet again, doing the same thing over and over again is the definition of insanity.
Among the rest of the SEC, Georgia, Texas, and Alabama earned blowout road wins, while South Carolina might be the hottest team in the conference after its fourth consecutive win. Ahead of Week 11, here are the updated US LBM Coaches Poll rankings.
