Texas A&M's 2026-2027 college basketball season under second-year head coach Bucky McMillan officially begins Tuesday, November 3, when the Aggies host Alabama State in Reed Arena. On Wednesday, senior forward Mackenzie Mgbako and senior transfer shooting guard PJ Haggerty joined Bucky McMillan at SEC Media Days, giving Aggie media plenty of content.
The Aggies' revamped roster now features seven transfer portal additions, led by Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game last season, while Mgbako, along with senior forward Zach Clemence and rising junior big man Jamie Vinson, provide more size and depth in the front court, and freshman center Josh Irving might be too skilled not to see the court this season.
One of last season's most reliable
starters, senior guard Rylan Griffen, opted to return for a final season after going undrafted and not signing with an NBA team, but is awaiting his injunction hearing that will determine his eligibility status, which was delayed earlier this month.
However, according to TexAgs analyst Luke Evangelist, Griffen's injunction hearing is now set for Wednesday, October 28, and will determine whether the former Alabama transfer, who averaged 8.6 points per game and shot 40% from beyond the arc last season, will play for the Aggies this coming season.
If the hearing goes his way, Rylan Griffen will provide elite depth at guard, and PJ Haggerty, one of the top slashers, thrives when shooters are making their outside shots at a high percentage.
