Former Texas A&M wide receiver Jahdae Walker is finding ways to contribute for the Chicago Bears, and his latest effort came on special teams during Sunday's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
Walker, who joined Chicago as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft, showed the physicality that made him a valuable receiver in College Station. As a gunner on punt coverage, Walker raced downfield and delivered the first hit on Atlanta's punt returner. He went to the ground after the collision but quickly got back up and helped finish the tackle.
While wide receivers are typically recognized for their contributions in the passing game, special teams can be just as important for younger players trying to establish themselves in the NFL. Walker
spent two seasons at Texas A&M after transferring from Grand Valley State, finishing his Aggies career with 64 receptions for 935 yards and four touchdowns.
At 6-foot-4, Walker gave the Aggies a big target on the outside, using his size and physicality to win contested catches. However, his transition to the NFL has required him to find opportunities beyond the receiver position. For players fighting to secure a spot on an NFL roster, making an impact on special teams can help them earn additional playing time.
Walker is still looking to establish himself as a consistent contributor for Chicago, but his effort against Atlanta showed the type of energy and willingness to make contact that NFL coaching staffs value.
