Texas A&M
basketball coach Bucky McMillan enters his second season at the helm with plenty of momentum after leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament with a roster built from the transfer portal, led by senior forward Rashaun Agee, while fellow senior guard Rylan Griffen, who averaged 8.6 points and shot 40% from beyond the arc, went undrafted in the NBA Draft and opted to return for a final season in College Station. However, like my college basketball players seeking a fifth season, Griffen's injunction hearing was delayed, with a new date yet to be set, after he re-enrolled at Texas A&M, and like Texas transfer guard Jordan Pope, he is now officially listed on the 2026-2027 roster as of Wednesday, per 12thman.com.
Freshman guard Neiko Mundey
will wear No. 3, which Griffen wore last season, and, according to the site, the former Alabama transfer will wear No. 5. Griffen's TRO (temporary retraining order) will allow him to play every game this season, similar to Rashaun Agee last year.
Griffen joins a revamped Aggie backcourt, now featuring transfer guards PJ Haggerty, Jalen Reece, Tyshawn Archie, Lukas Walls, and, as mentioned above, Jordan Pope, one of the Longhorns' most reliable and clutch shooters, especially during the program's NCAA Tournament run to the Sweet 16.
Griffen is a sharpshooter and one of the Aggies' top on-ball defenders, providing depth and valuable starting experience in a lineup that could lead the SEC in scoring, especially if forward Mackenzie Mgbako stays healthy this season.
