Big expectations chase the Cincinnati Bengals into the season.
Case in point: major projections from big outlets.
Over at Bleacher Report, Gary Davenport took a stab at win totals for each team and happily grabbed the over on 9.5 wins for the Bengals, suggesting Joe Burrow and Co. will finish 12-5.
“If the Bengals can get even average play out of that defense and the offensive line holds up,” Davenport wrote, “the Bengals could do more than just make the playoffs, and do more than win the AFC North.”
Bengals fans understand that much has to go right for this to pan out. The big names need to stay healthy and some developmental pieces like Shemar Stewart and the linebacker unit need to take a big step.
Still, Bengals fans also understand that it’s
all fair game. The club has pretty favorable schedule after last year’s struggles and the all-in nature of the front office has created a solid-looking roster.
Based on this projection, that 9.5 is pretty low, all things considered.
