The Cincinnati Bengals can’t shake the injury bug at wide receiver.
Ja’Marr Chase is hurt and working through concussion protocol. Tee Higgins has an injury with an unknown recovery time. Andrei Iosivas is on injured reserve and rookie Colbie Young has been dealing with an injury, too.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor provided some unexpected news ahead of Week 5 on the topic of Young, though.
Speaking with reporters before the week’s slate of practices, Taylor said that Young is actually ahead of schedule compared to expectations, leaving the door open for him to potentially play against the Miami Dolphins.
Call it a big win for the Bengals if Young can go. He’s only caught both of his targets across three games so far. But he was a big part of the gameplan
against Pittsburgh while Iosivas was out before getting hurt on his first catch (on what looked like a horse-collar tackle, no less).
The Bengals will hope at least Chase can make it back for Week 5. But Young, Dohnte Meyers and Mitch Tinsley is a trio they weren’t expecting to have available based on the rookie’s injury, it seems. Otherwise, they have Noah Thomas and Jordan Moore on the practice squad.
