The NFL doesn’t take bye weeks for fines, which is something the Cincinnati Bengals found out while on break this week.
Those Bengals sit on bye, but the NFL sent specific players fine letters for actions during the team’s Week 5 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Bengals tight end Erick All received a fine letter of $7,073 for an unnecessary roughness penalty. Safety Jordan Battle received an even bigger fine at $21,623 for illegal use of helmet.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Jay Morrison, this is the hit that got Battle fined:

As usual, onlookers can expect to hear that the players will partake in the usual appeals
process. That worked for Ja’Marr Chase last week.
