The Cincinnati Bengals might be on a bye week, but they know what’s looming after the break:
A date with the Baltimore Ravens and old friend Trey Hendrickson.
Hendrickson is off to a rocky start with the Ravens
after signing his four-year, $112 million contract, having already missed time due to injury. Over the course of the Ravens’ 4-1 start, he’s appeared in three games with one sack, though plenty of pressure efficiency numbers. No matter what happens during the bye week, the Bengals are expecting to see Hendrickson in Week 7.
"That's certainly the assumption I'm operating under. I would be disappointed if we got anything less from Trey. I'm sure we won't," Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
Pitcher had
plenty of early praise for Hendrickson, too.
"He's got excellent get-off, speed to power,” Pitcher said. “He just has a relentlessness, and a nose for finding the quarterback in the pocket. We felt that for several training camps playing against him. Obviously, we watched him do it to opponents a lot over the course of time. He's a technician that has all the physical tools to be a premier pass rusher." …
Not that Bengals fans need a reminder of any of that, but they can expect to hear more of it over the next week and a half, anyway.
Best to assume Hendrickson plays, too. But the good news? Orlando Brown Jr. has been solid at left tackle and they can scheme help over there. He knows how to rep against Hendrickson. And on the right side, Amarius Mims is starting to look like an All-Pro this year.
