The Cincinnati Bengals provided some bad injury news to start Pittsburgh Steelers week, revealing that wideout Andrei Iosivas needs to go to injured reserve.
According to the Bengals, Iosivas suffered a thumb injury that requires surgery, though he plans to return this season.
The good news? Others are going to get a big chance.
Iosvias is the No. 3 in Joe Burrow’s offense at wideout, though that third role behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins really goes to a variety of names like tight end Mike Gesicki and running back Chase Brown, too.
Two more names could benefit from this: Dohnte Meyers and Colbie Young.
Meyers was the fun breakout story from training camp who made the final roster and already operates as the primary returner on special teams.
He could get looks in the slot where Iosivas might’ve in the past.
There’s also the rookie Young to consider. The big-play artist from the summer could fill that big-bodied wideout role on the boundary in certain packages or sneak into packages near the endzone.
No matter who ends up benefiting the most, unlike prior years, the Bengals now have the quality wideout depth capable of dealing with an injury to Iosivas.
