Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins received fine letters from the NFL this week.
Chase told reporters that the NFL fined him for a “people’s elbow” celebration he did during the team’s Week 2 win over the Houston Texans.
"It's literally a wrestling move,” Chase said, according to CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia. “This is where the superstars have to get in with NFLPA and fight for our money."
Chase is…exaggerating here, to say the least. It is Chase’s sixth fine as a pro in the NFL.
Higgins received a fine for the same celebration he also did during the win over the Texans.
According to Jonathan Jones of The Athletic, the NFL fined the Bengals wideouts for each gesture during the game, totaling $89,556.
From the sounds of
it, Chase and Higgins will work the fine appeals process as usual, but don’t expect to hear much about it getting overturned.
