The Cincinnati Bengals hope for a rebound with the Jacksonville Jaguars in town for Week 4.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals coughed up at least 10 points via silly mistakes by special teams in a three-point loss to Pittsburgh in Week 3. Now, they get another shot at a would-be AFC playoff team in the form of the Jaguars.
Here are a few key notes and a prediction ahead of Sunday’s game.
Bengals injuries reshape defense
Time to worry about the defense. Jalen Davis went to injured reserve, so Dax Hill will move from the boundary to the slot. That exposes rookie Tacario Davis or DJ Ivey to starter reps on the boundary. Safety Bryan Cook is questionable, with backup Kyle Dugger out. The other starter, Jordan Battle, had been recovering from a hamstring issue this week.
Bad time for injuries
against…
Trevor Lawrence’s hot streak
This might be one of the top stretches of Lawrence’s career. For the 2-1 Jaguars, he’s completed 66.7 percent of his passes with 616 yards and seven touchdowns against two interceptions. Notably, Lawrence’s worst game was the only road trip so far, when he threw for just 189 yards with an interception during a loss to Denver.
Bold prediction: Ja’Marr Chase scores two more touchdowns
Is this that bold with Chase? Maybe not. But Chase has scored three times over his last two outings, including twice against a strong Houston defense. He needs 80 yards to pass Isaac Curtis (7,102 yards) for third place in franchise history. He’s already the fourth-fastest in NFL history to reach 7,000 yards. What’s another 115 yards and two scores against the Jaguars?
