Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Amarius Mims isn’t a fluke.
There was reason for cautious optimism when Mims started his second season off with All-Pro-like performances. But it was fair to wonder if the elite play would suddenly be the new bar of expectations for him.
Turns out…it is.
Mims just hasn’t let up. Despite seeing elite names like TJ Watt and others, Mims has some staggering numbers that back up what the film says.
Take, for example, the fact he’s allowed the lowest pressure rate despite being left in solo scenarios at the second-highest rate, via Next Gen Stats:
Amarius Mims has allowed the lowest QB pressure rate (4.0%) among OT this season despite being left 1-on-1 at the 2nd-highest rate (87.6%) . Per @NextGenStats (minimum 100
pass pro snaps)

This year was supposed to be a continuation of the best offensive line of Joe Burrow’s career. It is, after all, the first time they have actually returned all starting five linemen from the year prior.
Nobody, though, would have been so bold as to project immediate All-Pro play from Mims. The fact he’s hitting this sort of stride quickly has him on pace to be one of the best first-round picks by the Bengals in a long time.
