It feels like a matter of time before the Cincinnati Bengals let rookie Colbie Young get his big chance.
Young was due for just that earlier this season while other wideouts were injured, only to suffer an injury of his own that’s held him out.
After encouraging signs before the bye week, Young sounds ready for a full-blown comeback, based on commentary from Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.
"He's looked as good as he's looked in a long time," Taylor said. "I think last week he had a good week on what he could handle from a rehab perspective. So this week to get him back involved, he looked good running around today. I think it's good to finally get him back and feel like he's closer to 100% healthy."
This is a key one for the Bengals and Young. For
the rookie, he has a chance to prove those hyped summer flashes were the real deal.
And for Joe Burrow’s offense, it’s still missing third wideout Andrei Iosivas and situational tight end Tanner Hudson. Young’s big enough and talented enough to help fill that void.
From the sounds of it, that’s the plan, starting with the post-bye game against the Baltimore Ravens.
