Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has established himself among the NFL's elite at his position, but three former stars stand above the rest when it comes to his personal favorites.
Asked to name his top three receivers of all-time, Chase went with Randy Moss, Julio Jones and Antonio Brown.
The inclusion of Brown was the most intriguing selection, and Chase acknowledged that some might question the choice.
"And I know people might be like AB?! But if you look at his stats at the top of his game, he was far and above everybody with yards and touchdowns. It was crazy," Chase wrote to USA Today Sports in conjunction with the release of his Fabletics collection.
Brown's peak helps explain Chase's admiration.
During his prime with the Pittsburgh
Steelers, Brown became one of the league's most productive and difficult receivers to defend, pairing top-tier route running with massive receiving totals.
From 2013 through 2018, he recorded 686 receptions for 9,145 yards and 67 touchdowns, topping 100 catches in all six seasons and surpassing 1,200 receiving yards each year.
Moss and Jones are less surprising choices. Both combined rare physical ability with sustained production, and each presented defenses with the type of matchup problems Chase can create in Cincinnati.
Nonetheless, his defense of Brown made clear how highly Chase views the former Steelers standout's pinnacle of play.
