Bengals cornerback DJ Turner II surfaced massive praise for Dexter Lawrence after the defensive tackle’s dominant start in Cincinnati.
Turner told FOX19’s Charlie Goldsmith that Lawrence is “the most dominant person that I’ve ever been around or ever played with,” later comparing his impact to a varsity player facing a junior varsity team, per FOX19.
The numbers bolster up the praise. Lawrence has 10 pressures this season, with five coming in the fourth quarter, according to FOX19. He also has produced four impact plays in the final quarter through three games and played 79% of Cincinnati’s defensive snaps against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lawrence has quickly become the main feature of a rebuilt Bengals front following Cincinnati's acquisition
of him from the New York Giants for the No. 10 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
His late-game production has been especially noticeable. Lawrence recorded two sacks in the final 10 minutes against Pittsburgh and nearly forced a safety on another pressure.
Cincinnati has asked Lawrence to be a difference-maker from the middle of its defense, and he has delivered early.
The tape has made a strong enough impression for Turner to put Lawrence in a class of his own among teammates he has seen.
