Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki wanted everyone at Paycor Stadium to relax after delivering one of the biggest catches of Sunday’s 33-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With Cincinnati leading 27-20 late in the third quarter, Gesicki hauled in a 24-yard pass from Joe Burrow on third-and-10.
The conversion came immediately after Tampa Bay had cut a 14-point deficit in half with a pick-six, making the tension around the stadium noticeable.
“I could feel the tension in the stadium. The game is getting tight,” Gesicki said, per WLWT’s Charlie Clifford. “I just wanted to go out there and make a play. … I had like seven other celebrations too. I enjoyed myself today.”

The catch helped extend a drive that ended with Evan McPherson drilling a 58-yard field goal to push Cincinnati’s advantage to 30-20.
Gesicki emerged as Burrow’s most productive target in the opener, finishing with five receptions for 78 yards and a 2-yard touchdown. He led the Bengals in receptions, targets and receiving yards.
Head coach Zac Taylor praised Gesicki’s ability to improvise within the offense, saying the veteran has a “green light” because of the chemistry he has developed with Burrow.
