The emergence of Amarius Mims has raised a question for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Would the ascending right tackle be better suited protecting Joe Burrow’s blind side?
Offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher doesn’t see much reason to find out.
When asked Wednesday about a scenario where Mims and left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. switch positions, Pitcher said, “I personally don’t see the value in that right now,” according to CLNS's Mike Petraglia.

Pitcher expanded on the reasoning in comments published by Bengals.com, pointing out that modern edge rushers frequently move between sides.
“I don’t necessarily think that you
need your best guy at left, if that makes sense,” Pitcher said. “You need two really good tackles, and Amarius is playing at a really high level.”
The question comes after a difficult afternoon for Brown against an elite Houston Texans pass rush. FOX19’s Charlie Goldsmith noted Brown struggled in his individual matchup against Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
Pitcher, however, remains confident Brown can rebound.
“We’ve seen Orlando Brown play at a high level, and I know Orlando expects himself to play at a high level,” Pitcher said. “I think he’ll get there.”
Meanwhile, Mims’ continued development hands Cincinnati some flexibility. If the Bengals can trust him without consistent help on the right side, they can devote additional protection toward Brown when matchups demand it.
For now, Cincinnati appears committed to letting both tackles stay where they are.
