Betting against Joe Burrow when the Cincinnati Bengals are road underdogs has become one of the NFL's most expensive habits.
Burrow improved to 14-1 against the spread over his last 15 games in that role after Cincinnati beat the Houston Texans 20-6 on Sunday.
The Bengals entered the matchup as 2.5-point underdogs, a line that prompted Sports Illustrated's Jay Morrison to call Burrow on the road "the closest thing you will ever see to a betting lock."
Morrison updated the remarkable trend after Cincinnati won outright.

The result was backed by a longer sample. Before the game, BettingPros noted that Burrow was 13-1 against the spread in his previous 14 games as a road underdog of at least 2.5 points
dating to 2020.
Burrow didn't need a signature statistical performance to extend the streak. He completed 20 of 31 passes for 207 yards and threw two touchdowns to Ja'Marr Chase.
Cincinnati's defense held Houston without a touchdown, while Evan McPherson supplied two field goals from beyond 50 yards in the 14-point victory.
No wager is automatic, but Burrow's record is certainly not a short-term trend. Cincinnati has repeatedly played above market expectations when oddsmakers put points on Burrow's side away from home.
On Sunday, the Bengals smashed the spread entirely before halftime and reinforced his status as the league's most reliable road underdog.
