Cincinnati Bengals safety Jordan Battle continues to be a hot topic of debate going into Week 5.
For some, Battle is a weak point in the lineup that needs to change. But Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has publicly gone to bat for Battle this week, too.
Taylor isn’t alone, either.
Former Bengals safety Daijahn Anthony recently took to social media to defend his former teammate.
Anthony wrote the following:
“I barely get on twitter but I hate the fact I see so much Jordan battle slander check his stats for the last 3 years he missed a couple tackles yesterday wow he plays safety in the nfl it happens but yall not gone sit right here and ignore all the production he has had over his career stop tearing down your players lift them up”
The appeal to fans
uplifting players, not tearing them down, is admirable, of course. But it’s not totally realistic, either, as fans will naturally vent frustrations in public ways.
Regardless, that's multiple notable folks defending Battle, albeit with the caveat that Taylor agreed one particular mistake on the third-and-18 missed tackle is something Battle needs to correct.
One of the best safety’s in the league !! That’s a fact
