The Cincinnati Bengals remain open for business when it comes to making additions to the roster during training camp, as usual.
There’s a small chance the Atlanta Falcons just gave them one, too.
Near the end of the week, the Falcons released linebacker Troy Andersen, a former second-round pick who has struggled to stay on the field due to injury woes.
The good with Andersen is obvious: When healthy, he lived up to the draft billing with 135 tackles (75 solo) with one interception and one forced fumble over 26 games.
The bad is also obvious: He played 17 games as a rookie, two in 2023 before an injury sidelined him, seven in 2024 after another injury and missed all of 2025.
Andersen would be a gamble for the Bengals, no doubt. And coaches have made
it clear they’re all-in on Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter. But after the failure to sign proper veteran depth last year, they still project to be on the market for quality options.
Here, Andersen certainly qualifies. Availability is really important, too, but having a player of his caliber as a backup and overall option could appeal to a Bengals team in the middle of a defensive rebuild.
