The Cincinnati Bengals just keep enjoying major success at the wide receiver spot.
Look at this offseason, where some new faces behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins keep popping off in training camp.
Draft pick Colbie Young certainly looks the part. And one undrafted free agent got some major praise from Chase.
That college free agent, Noah Thomas, isn’t alone as an unexpected breakout, either.
According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Dohnte Meyers has been another steady standout over the first week.
“His athleticism has shown up this week and he’s added a couple of nice plays on offense,” Dehner wrote. “He could make the team in the return game. He has joined Charlie Jones and Ke’Shawn Williams in the punt and kickoff return groups. That spot
is as wide open as any.”
Meyers, undrafted in 2023 and after a stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL, landed with the Bengals this past January.
The fact Meyers has managed to stand out in a base offense at wideout in Cincinnati is notable, considering how stacked the depth chart is. If he’s able to make some headway on special teams returns, especially in the preseason, he might just be in the conversation for the sixth spot.
