Ja’Marr Chase turned uncertainty into a catch-of-the-year contender during the Cincinnati Bengals’ 20-6 win over the Houston Texans.
Joe Burrow targeted Chase down the right sideline late in the second quarter. Chase briefly lost track of the football while battling All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., but recovered in time to secure the pass and tap both feet down near the pylon for a 32-yard touchdown

The jaw-dropping play gave Cincinnati a 7-3 lead it never surrendered. In the locker room after the game, Chase admitted his adjustment came entirely on instinct
“I literally don’t know what I did,” Chase said in a postgame interview with CLNS reporter Mike Petraglia. “Like,
I couldn’t see the ball for a second, and I was just fighting, trying to get in position. But by the time I seen the ball, it was like in a light, and it came real fast, and it was just adjustment.”

Chase later caught an 18-yard touchdown from Burrow in the third quarter, helping the Bengals improve to 2-0 for a second consecutive season. He finished with seven receptions for 75 yards and two scores after being held to two catches for 12 yards in the opener.
Burrow completed 20 of 31 passes for 207 yards and the two touchdowns. Chase’s first score accounted for Cincinnati’s only points of the opening half before the Bengals pulled away following halftime.
