It didn't take long for one notable Cincinnati Bengals release from final cutdowns to get a chance.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, former Bengals draft pick McKinnley Jackson worked out for the San Francisco 49ers this week.
Not too surprising, considering the 24-year-old Jackson was a third-round pick in 2024, so the upside and possible change of scenery helping him along will appeal to other teams.
The Bengals, though, saw enough. Jackson couldn’t find his footing last year under Al Golden and eventually reportedly asked for a midseason trade.
This offseason, the Bengals signalled where things stood for Jackson and former second-round pick Kris Jenkins when they signed Jonathan Allen and made the blockbuster trade for Dexter Lawrence, even
relegating veterans BJ Hill and TJ Slaton to rotational roles.
For Jackson, the opportunity to develop elsewhere will continue, but the Bengals wanted a fresh start with a veteran rotation while Jenkins and breakout late-round rookie Landon Robinson develop much lower on the depth chart.
