The Cincinnati Bengals don’t need any extra motivation to go into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers in Week 3, which would mean starting 3-0.
But here comes former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin throwing out some bulletin-board material anyway.
After Joey Porter Jr. decided to give Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins a little extra motivation
, Tomlin made his prediction for Sunday at the Steelers’ 2026 Hall of Honor Dinner Program.“It’s great to be home,” Tomlin said. “I wish that I could be here Sunday for this butt kicking that we gonna put on the Cincinnati Bengals.”
Mild? Of course. Playing to the crowd? Obviously.
Still used as extra motivation by the Bengals, or pro athletes in general?
Also yes.
The Bengals enter Pittsburgh favored to win. The Steelers
are 1-1 and Porter’s possible absence and injuries to Aaron Rodgers’ offensive line seem to swing things even more Cincinnati’s way.
But Bengals players aren’t going to complain that the underdog in the matchup has some interesting, confident public chatter around it, either.
