The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t list a player on the final injury report for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, so the inactives list was supposed to be pretty boring.
Or not.
The Bengals tossed a handful of names on the inactives list and one is not like the others:
- S Russ Yeast
- C Connor Lew
- OT Myles Hinton
- DE Shemar Stewart
- DT Landon Robinson
Shemar Stewart, a first-round pick just a year ago, is inactive.
We can dismiss this as the Bengals being very healthy and the specific matchup this week causing those. But the fact of the matter is that the first-round prospect can’t even crack being the fourth defensive end right now.
Stewart has had injuries and other stuff holding back his development. But the fact he’s popping up in national trade buzz is pretty hard to ignore, too.
The Bengals are extremely unlikely to trade
Stewart. That’s not what this is. But it is a sign the coaches don’t trust him right now.
