The Cincinnati Bengals had depth issues to address coming out of the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and got to work on that front early this week.
According to ESPN’s Ben Baby, the Bengals hosted the following players on workouts ahead of Week 4 prep:
- S Beau Brade
- S Isaiah Nwokobia
- LB Emany Johnson
- LB Anfernee Orji
- S Demani Richardson
The Bengals later announced that they signed Nwokobia and Brade to the practice squad.
A quick translation: Injuries are a mild concern at safety. Both Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger came up hobbled after the loss to the Steelers. Jordan Battle struggled in the base defense while backup PJ Jules had a key miscue on special teams, too.
Three safeties even made the Bengals' injury report already.
Both new additions to the practice squad join Russ Yeast there. We’ll see how the injury reports shape up all
week, but it’s reasonable to expect one or two of the safeties on the practice squad to be elevated to the active roster for the Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
