Facing an international trip with his Cincinnati Bengals this week in Madrid, Spain, center Ted Karras had a few interesting comments to make about how teams handle the travel.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor handled things one way this week. With the Los Angeles Rams, Sean McVay handled things quite a bit differently earlier this season.
Now, Karras recently issued a statement about McVay and the Rams after some of his comments seemed to allude to them.
"I'm going to start us off real quick. I have the utmost respect for the Los Angeles Rams and Coach (Sean) McVay. Coach (Nate) Scheelhaase is my college quarterback," Karras said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. "Getting quoted in the national media two times in one week is too much for a center.
So I'm going to save my personality for my teammates and shut up a little bit. Just want to get that off my chest." …
Karras was merely stressing he was thankful for how Taylor handled this week's trip to Madrid, which featured a Tuesday departure, Wednesday off day and generally smooth-looking acclimation to the new time zone and surroundings.
These were his prior comments:

Nothing terrible there. The Rams opened Week 1 with a 27-7 loss to San Francisco in Australia, which raised some questions about their approach to the trip.
We’ll see if Taylor’s approach for the Bengals works out better. Either way, though, don’t exect to hear from Karras again on the topic.
