Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has notched a particular statistic illustrating the level he played at when healthy last season.
Pro Football Focus ranked Burrow No. 1 among NFL quarterbacks in its new big-time throw-to-turnover-worthy play ratio.
He finished with a 9.00 ratio after recording 18 big-time throws compared to just two turnover-worthy plays over eight games.
No other quarterback came within four points of Burrow’s mark, as Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford finished second at 2.23.
The numbers behind Burrow’s ranking were even more notable.
"His 0.7% turnover-worthy play rate was the lowest in the league by a wide margin, and the lowest by any quarterback in the PFF era. Burrow was not being careful, either — his
6.6% big-time throw rate ranked fourth in football, and his 91.3 passing grade ranked second," PFF's Mark Chichester wrote.
Burrow’s sample was limited after a turf toe injury cost him nine games, but his performance reminded everyone how good Cincinnati’s can be with its franchise quarterback available.
The Bengals will hope a healthy Burrow can stay as efficient through a full 2026 season.
