Bryan Cook has won two Super Bowl rings. But the thought of bringing a championship to Cincinnati still hits him differently.
The Bengals safety opened up about what winning in his hometown would mean during an appearance on FOX19’s “Bengals Now.” Jeremy Rauch shared a clip of Cook’s answer Wednesday night.
“I try to hold back my tears because ... it would mean more to me than anyone else could know,” Cook said.
It's easy to understand why the subject weighs on his mind.
Cook is a Cincinnati native who attended Mount Healthy High School before beginning his college career at Howard. He later transferred to the University of Cincinnati, which is about 4 miles away from Paycor Stadium.
The Bengals signed Cook in March to a three-year contract through
the 2028 season after he spent his first four NFL seasons with Kansas City.
He was part of the Chiefs’ back-to-back championship teams during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, so he understands what reaching that goal requires.
This year and beyond, though, he can pursue the Lombardi wearing the jersey of his hometown team.
