In response to the small Joe Burrow injury saga, the Cincinnati Bengals elevated quarterback Josh Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster before Week 2 against the Houston Texans.
The Bengals announced the move a day after head coach Zac Taylor suggested it was coming.
This move gives the Bengals a third option on game day, should the team need it. Burrow is expected to start after ramping up to normal practice work by the end of the week while resting a sore back.
Johnson takes the third depth chart slot behind Joe Flacco for Sunday before going back to the practice squad on Monday.
The Bengals also elevated linebacker Joe Giles-Harris during the roster moves.
