Following the first week of training camp practices for the Jacksonville Jaguars, which player at each position group finds themselves on the roster bubble?
After projecting which players will make thefinal 53-man roster, given what we know at this stage of training camp, let's examine which players may be on the outside looking in currently.
With several weeks of practices, three preseason games, and three joint practices remaining, there is still time for these players to make a roster push.
Quarterback
None
Nick Mullens will be the backup and the Jaguars likely only carry two quarterbacks again.
Running back
Ameer Abdullah
The Jaguars did keep a fourth running back on the roster oftentimes last season. If the team goes that route again, Abdullah seems to be the early favorite
for that role.
Wide receiver
Austin Trammell, Tim Jones
CJ Williams and Josh Cameron continue to impress and will very well make up the back-end of the receiver depth chart on the 53-man. That said, perhaps Trammell or Jones' special teams experience could help them make a push for the seventh spot on the depth chart.
Tight end
Quintin Morris, Hunter Long
I expect Morris' ability on special teams and as a blocker to differentiate him from Long, but the two are likely competing for one roster spot.
Offensive line
Chuma Edoga
If the Jaguars roster nine linemen as they did last year, Edoga could be the odd man out. Walker Little can play both tackle spots off the bench, while Wyatt Milum and Emmanuel Pregnon are backups at guard. Milum has tackle experience as well.
Defensive line
Matt Dickerson
Dickerson carved out a role on defense during the second half of last season, and if the Jaguars keep five tackles, he is likely the front-runner to secure that role. That said, it's not a given that the Jaguars roster that many interior defenders. Dickerson will have to earn that role.
Linebacker
Jalen McLeod, Yasir Abdullah, Parker Hughes
Last season, the Jaguars rostered six linebackers. If they do that again, then these three may end up competing for one roster spot.
Cornerback
Preston Hodge, Devon Marshall
Jabbar Muhammad and Christian Braswell seem to hold the fifth and sixth spots on the cornerback depth chart, but neither falls into the roster lock category either.
Safety
None
This room seems pretty well set with Antonio Johnson and Eric Murray starting, Caleb Ransaw the third safety, along with Rayuan Lane and Jalen Huskey helping on special teams.
Special teams
None
