During Thursday's training camp practice, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars' offense found their share of success pushing the ball downfield.
As noted byJohn Shipleyof Jaguars on SI, Lawrence had five completions of at least 20 yards in the team's latest practice. Shipley added that, even with taking those downfield attempts, Lawrence didn't have any turnover-worthy plays.
Pushing the ball downfield has been an emphasis for Lawrence this offseason. As the 2025 season went along, Lawrence and the offense improved in this facet, but Liam Coen believes there's more growth to be had.
A resurgent season from Brian Thomas Jr. will help generate more of these explosive downfield opportunities. The added comfort that Lawrence has with another
offseason under his belt in Coen's offense can be a catalyst as well.
Lawrence continuing to build his rapport with his wideouts, particularly Thomas, has been a priority as well over the last few months.
In today's NFL, an offense consistently plotting its way down the field with 10-plus play drives is a difficult way to regularly put up a lot of points. Explosive plays are needed.
